CHANT+ is a five track remix album of So Nice Yesterday’s Chant by PeaceRussie.

A native of Baltimore, PeaceRussie (he/him) is a multimedia artist, that enjoys employing a “bend and twist until it breaks” method to all the forms their expressions take. In the ten years this protean existence has been transmitting, Russie is a major catalyst and force behind the poignantly hyped art and music scenes of Baltimore.

The mood colors across all these remixes that fill my thoughts expand inter-dimensionally across various eras and sounds. If you allow the time machine of your mind to combine while listening to each track, you will assemble all the various snapshots of yourself in the club of your mind. All of them will crowd the misty dance floor to smooth groove, shake, pop and lock, rock out and hip hug until those small hours. And from their pulpit of platters, PeaceRussie will preach raising both tweeters of angels and woofers of devils to cast out the chaos.

“Visions” and “Ain’t That Type of Party” have been drenched in that UK 90’s trip hop rain, with still a shimmer of original New York rap running your mascara. “Lie To Me” is a brilliant synthesis of world and R&B beats and smooth as smoke groove. All the remixes seep into your consciousness like those dub missives well-schooled in Jamaican music.

I adore the original So Nice Yesterday release. It has been one of my go-to albums since I first reviewed it back in May, 2023. PeaceRussie’s CHANT+ is an impeccable evolution of those tracks. Almost as if Thom and Berko let their musical children go spend the summer on PeaceRussie’s farm and they came back happily exhausted with new rich stories and facinating adventures to tell.
