What was your first project that made you feel like a real artist and how did you get it?

There isn’t really a specific project that gave me validation. The more work I created for myself, the more self-confidence I built as I started to find my voice and enjoy what I was creating! I really just like making art that resonates with people, whether it makes them think or just makes them smile. Seeing that I can connect with others through art is what makes me feel like a “real artist”.

What is your primary inspiration when creating art?

Telling a story! Knowing what feeling or thought I want others to have when looking at my work absolutely informs what I make. Form follows function after all!

What other artists do you use to learn technique?

George Bridgman absolutely, his life drawing books are beyond informative. Mike Mattesi, Andrew Loomis, Griz and Norm, and the Bancroft Brothers have been super influential on my art education as well. I’m a strong proponent of “if you can draw the human figure, you can draw anything”.

Where would you like to see yourself in five years with your art?

I hope to have even more fluid poses, stronger environmental storytelling, and more powerful shape language in my work!

What would your dream project be?

Aha this is incredibly self-indulgent, but my dream project would absolutely be to have creative direction for a Legion of Superheroes reboot, either as a comic book or TV adaptation. I love my idiotic obscure super future children, and being able to put my own twist on a long running series that really inspired me in my childhood would be really fun!

Final four questions –we ask everybody

Q) When the zombies take over the world where will you be?

Dead, absolutely. The concept of the zombie apocalypse is one of my Big Fears, I could never deal with it.

Q ) How do you identify Jedi, lesbian,   Ninja, gay, vampire, bisexual, were-wolf, transgender,  pirate, asexual,  fairy, aromantic, sith, intersex,  Spartan, non-binary, wizard, genderfluid,  queer,  …?  ?

Home Depot Enby

Q) What piece of art, be it in the form of music, a ,book, a film or picture, do you think people must experience before they die?

Oof, that’s a really tough one. I think there’s so much in the world that’s just too good to never experience!! But I think I definitely wouldn’t be who I am today if it wasn’t for Disney’s Atlantis: The Lost Empire. It’s got such a unique style to it, really interesting world building, and just a great feeling of adventure!

Q) Give one fact that most people would not believe about you?

I legitimately like pickled eggs. Not memeing.
