GALECA’s Dorian Awards toast the finest in movies, TV and the New York stage, from mainstream to queer/trans content. Along with traditional categories such as Film of the Year and Best Broadway Musical, we have several trademark contests such as Campiest Flick, Best Unsung TV Show and the Broadway Showstopper Award. Special accolades range from our Timeless Star career achievement award to our LGBTQIA+ Trailblazer honors.

Lesfic Bard Awards

We love reading good lesbian literature, and we wish to reward those deserving of recognition. We have heard authors complain of awards that are skewed in favor of big-name authors and publishing houses, so we decided to use our marketing skills to put forth an award of our own. We will use our unique triple-blind judging process to find deserving runners-i[ and winners, then market them to ensure they receive the acknowledgment they are due.

the Otherwise Award

the Otherwise Award celebrates science fiction, fantasy, and other forms of speculative narrative that expand and explore our understanding of gender. We encourage each jury to take an expansive view of “science fiction and fantasy,” considering works that don’t fit into a narrow genre definition. We also seek out works that have a broad, intersectional, trans-inclusive understanding of gender in the context of race, class, nationality, disability, and more.

Stonewall Book Awards

The first and most enduring award for LGBTQIA+ books is the Stonewall Book Awards, sponsored by the American Library Association’s Rainbow Round Table (formerly the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgender Round Table). Since Isabel Miller’s Patience and Sarah received the first award in 1971, many other books have been honored for exceptional merit relating to the LGBTQIA+ experience.

The Rainbow Awards for Journalism & Literature

The Rainbow Awards for Journalism & Literature as well as the Rainbow Lit Fest – Queer & Inclusive are owned and run by the Dwijen Dinanath Arts Foundation, a Section 8, not for-profit entity. Supported by donations and funds invested by its founder, Sharif D Rangnekar, the Foundation functions in the area of facilitating and curating platforms related to gender, sexuality, arts and the independent music space. It leverages history and literature as well as current affairs and the multitude of thoughts and views in all it attempts to do.
