Review of the Ultimate Chick Flick Cookbook by Richard S. Sargent

The Ultimate Chick Flick cookbook has brought together a very eclectic pick of “Chick Flick” movies across many decades. While many of them I have seen I did not always pay attention to the food or drink in the movie. Richard has found an interesting way to enjoy these wonderful Rom-Coms with family and friends through the food in each.  You can make a meal by combining the food from different movies.   One example in the cookbook is a theme of Girl Can’t Cook—which pulls food ideas from Bridget Jone’s Diary, Breakfast at Tiffany’s and Clueless to make a full meal. He chose appetizer, dinner and dessert options although there is usually a drink to go along with.

I enjoyed the tips he provides with the recipes along with the ease, prep time and cooking time for each.  Richard has thought about how to make this cookbook fun, easy and the meals enjoyable along with providing his thoughts for each recipe he chooses from each movie.  His drinking game suggestion is also neat. Often my spouse and I will watch a show or movie and be like ‘take a drink each time the lead says . . .’ so it was nice to see someone else thinks along the same lines.

This cookbook is truly for the person that loves Rom-Coms and to cook.  Some of these recipes are quick and easy while others can actually take some time to prepare.  Planning is a must if you are going to use this cookbook.  It is fun, eclectic and well worth the time for anyone that enjoys Rom-Coms and cooking.  Just a couple recipes I would consider are: Wind Beneath My Cauliflower Wings, Girl Talk (Pizza Bread Rolls), Miraculous Food (Savory Sausages and Sweet Baked Apples) and The Jamaican Jerk.  Check it out!
